Mission is a significant part of Gilgal’s ministry.

Strong ties are maintained and practical support offered to a range of missionary organisations including BMS, HMF, Latin Link, SIM, Blythswood Trust and Support for Romania, Compassion and Tear Fund.

In more personal terms, the Gilgal fellowship has supported members to work as missionaries in foreign fields.

Gilgal also supports missionaries in Thailand and Romania.

What we did in 2017:

God is a God of surprises. I turned up at Church one Sunday evening recently and was introduced to a missionary from America to France that Gilgal had helped finance some 30 years ago. It made me realise afresh how impossible it is to tell of all that God is doing through Gilgal. But if I can touch on a few it will have to suffice. We now have 3 LINK missionaries working with the Baptist Missionary Society. We were asked to adopt Mr and Mrs H, a couple working in Kosovo, teaching English as a Second Language and seeking to befriend with a view to making disciples. Then the Loverings joined Gilgal and so we have also adopted their daughter Laura-Lee who is an environmental scientist serving in the Peruvian Amazon, modelling ways to grow produce while enriching – rather than damaging – the environment and demonstrating to Pastors the variety of crops they and their congregations could be growing.

Over 20% of Gilgal’s income is invested in world mission from Baptist Home Mission Fund helping to establish and strengthen churches in the UK, to the Leprosy Mission, to Tear Fund, to the sponsoring of individual children. One example of the diversity of our mission’s portfolio was the raising of nearly £400 from a sponsored run with the money going to the Gulu mission in Uganda to pay for new science equipment in Bethel School.

In addition to our more standard giving, Gilgal continues to give 1000’s of chocolate eggs to Romanian children and fill hundreds of Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Our aim as a group is to continue to raise awareness of world mission and offer opportunities to give and serve. So why not join us?
