The discipleship team is responsible for co-ordinating house groups, alpha courses, wednesday morning traditional service and mentoring for new christians.
Team Members: Eirwen Harris, Karen Challenger
What we did in 2015:
This team was established in September and our aim is: To equip believers for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, becoming more like Him (Eph 4v12&13).
The areas of ministry that fit in this particular team are: Mentoring scheme, Wednesday Morning service, Housegroups and the Alpha course.
The Wednesday traditional service began in 2015 and is well attended by around 30 every week, some of whom then go into lunch club. This service is proving to be a valuable meeting for all those involved and communion is served on a regular basis. It is a short service with a brief 5 minute talk, some prayers and traditional hymns. There is also an opportunity for people to be prayed with or write their prayers down. This has been very well received.
Housegroups: A meeting was held in January for the leaders to meet together with Martin to share feedback and any concerns they may have.
Mentoring Scheme: Around a dozen members have been mentored in the lead up to the launch of this ministry team and 3 others are currently on the scheme.
The Alpha course: A course is being planned for mid April with all of the fellowship to be encouraged to invite someone along to it.
What we plan to do in 2016:
Encourage more of those in lunch club to come to the traditional service beforehand.
Set up new house groups as most of the existing ones are at their maximum.
Ensure that new members are discipled lovingly, carefully and prayerfully.
Launch a new Alpha course in April and hopefully a post Alpha group in the Autumn.
