What we did in 2015:
The main objective of this team is to ensure the smooth running of the church from an administrative perspective. In particular, the group provides support to the church secretary, and shares some of his/her workload.
Inevitably, much of the activity of the team takes place behind the scenes, with no particular need for meetings, so the team only met once in 2015.
During the year, Lynda Edwards stepped down from the diaconate and consequently handed over her responsibilities as Safeguarding Trustee and as Use of Premises secretary. We are grateful to her for her faithful service in these roles over a number of years. We are also grateful to Liz Rees and Barbara Irwin for being willing to take over from Lynda and for doing so seamlessly.
Midway through the year, we published a new version of the Church Directory.
We reviewed our DBS register and ensured that all those involved with any aspect of our work with children and young people had an up to date DBS Disclosure.
In October, we hosted a Safeguarding Children course run by the South Wales Baptist Association and encouraged all those involved with any aspect of our children and young people’s work to attend.
We have recently developed a safeguarding policy for adults at risk to sit alongside the existing one for children and young people.
We have completely revised our detailed safeguarding procedures for children and young people.
hat we hope to do in 2016:
As and when the Baptist Union issue guidelines, develop safeguarding procedures for adults at risk.
Complete job descriptions for all the tasks undertaken by the team, to facilitate the transition when somebody new takes over a role and to make it easier to provide cover in case of emergency.
